Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself.

Teen facts

I am learning about teen number facts.  I am able to write facts using tens and ones blocks.


" i can add one block 2 + 50 so that equals 52.  It helps me with my adding." said Dylan

Reading Eggs

I am learning to recognise digraphs and blends so I can read the sounds that two letters make.  Reading Eggs helps me to reinforce my learning.

" Reading Eggs helps me to learn new words and more eggs I get the more people I get." said Dylan

Bird pillow

For our Art Exhibition this year we learnt how to sketch a bird.  The final drawing was transferred onto calico and dye was added.  The bird was glued onto a pillow that Mrs Scott and Mrs Worsfold had sewn.  Don't they look great!

Dylan said," It is quite hard to remember to do the capitals in the right place. "

I am learning to sound out a 3 letter word.

I am learning to say the first, middle and last sound in a word and then blend the sounds together to write the word.  This can help me in my reading and my writing.

" I can sound out letters because if I get mixed up I sound the words out. I can miss out the word so I can read back and work out the word." said Dylan

I am learning to know groupings within 20

I am learning to know how many more there are to 20.  This knowledge will help me image in my head.

"I can add to 20 by counting on from the biggest number in my head. " said Dylan

Celebrating the Autumn season

We have been learning about how people celebrate different seasons. Some families celebrate the Autumn harvest. Our class picked apples from the school orchard and made apple pie together.

"We all made it together and my job was to get it out of the oven. It was very hot.

I am learning to place a sentence in order.

I am learning to construct a sentence, reading it as I go to make sure my reading makes sense.

"I can robot my words when I don't know them." said Dylan

We are learning to write for an audience and publish quality work to share.

"My buddies are so nice to me. They read to me."

I am learning to know my doubles to 10

Dylan, you are able to match the double numbers to 10.  Next we will be working on knowing the doubles to 20.

"I can use my fingers to help me work out my doubles.  I know what double 5 is - 10" said Dylan

I am learning to form my numerals correctly.

I am learning to write my numbers around the right way.  I am able to write up to 31 correctly but I need to remember how to form 9.

Dylan said," I need to make my numbers smaller. They are a little bit big, but they are getting smaller."

I am learning to make a rhyming string.

I am learning to find words that end with the same rhyming sounds.
I am learning to make a rhyming pattern.

Dylan said, " I am proud because I can make the first sound and I know lots of words."

I am learning water safety

I am learning to enter and exit the pool safely.

I am learning to glide on my front with a flutter board.

I am learning to float on my back with and without a board.

I am learning to manage myself and get changed independently.

Dylan said," I love to duck dive and dive. I like to do hand stands in the water."

I am learning to write a story

I am learning to write more than 1 sentence.

I am learning to make my letters smaller.

Dylan said, "I got on the best work table, actually 3 times. I am really proud."
